Educational Theatre
Welcome Letter to Students
Prior to arriving in New York City, I had the honor of teaching in the Theatre and Dance Department at Phillips Academy Andover, an independent high school in Andover, Massachusetts. During this two-year experience, I was granted the ability to create my own curriculum for the Introduction to Acting class, direct two plays and one musical, and teach my own hip hop dance class. While at Andover, I learned how to best build a course with various levels of skill, select materials that represented the diverse lives of all of my students, and work collaboratively on various projects and productions with fellow colleagues and students. I have had the privilege of continuing my work in theatre, teaching in Andover’s Summer Session for the past four summer seasons. Designed for middle school students, I teach a Theatre Arts, English, and Film integration course, inviting students to use these three mediums to express their individuality, challenge their creative thoughts and visions, and establish their own voices in the arts. I have continued to strengthen my skills in content creation, technology-based accessibility, and innovative theatre structures as I progress in my teaching career.
